Jimmy Richardson

From Legends of Kern

The downright pure evil, insatiably, disgustingly-greedy CEO of Magicorp Enterprises, Ltd., Jimmy Richardson III is the charismatic, cunning, fearless leader of the company.

Early Life

Following a tumultuous early childhood at the fists of his father, James William Richardson III grew out of a toddler, to a boy, and eventually a man, receiving a botched version of the grooming his own father received from his grandfather. He became a petulant, whiny man, privy to sucking up to his mother to get anything he wanted, while having a complex relationship with his father during his adult years.

At the age of 21, Richardson decided he had had enough “training” and abuse from his father, murdering him in his sleep to usurp their company’s throne, utilizing magical methods of his own design to cover it all up and ascend to power. He had his mother, who witnessed the atrocity, thrown in a secret, private prison the company developed that is inside of a pocket dimension.

Career

Over the next twenty years, Richardson III, now known by his peers as Jimmy, made sweeping changes to his company’s agenda and values that alienated his consumers but made his shareholders (and mainly himself) very, very happy. After decimating his employees’ wages across every catalog, he created a new department for the company that was responsible for the creation of lifeless, non-sentient magical constructs to accomplish simple jobs, destroying even more wages and livelihoods. The company’s few-remaining humanlike jobs, namely in the meat packing, mining, and fabrication industries, were among the few livable-wage jobs, though they swiftly acquired a reputation of being extremely dangerous due to the budget cuts spearheaded by Jimmy.

Whistleblowers would appeal to the public about these horrors, only to disappear and never be heard from again, or in some cases, disturbingly, to suddenly re-appear and have no memory of these events ever happening. And in any case, as Magicorp was now a bewilderingly-large company that now also had their fingers in government lobbying, the legal system, the press, and in some countries, directly in cahoots with the circles of royalty, to whom James has carefully maintained a selective reality of events to them, any disgruntlement would be tossed aside effortlessly by the corporation.

Richardson, however, is not without his supporters: By manipulating the general public, he has a core of zealous supporters who believe his lies about everything, and this class of people make enacting actual change and reform to not only their country, but the world, seem as hopeless as it feels.

Worldview

Richardson equates money with the ultimate philosophical takeover and permanent ownership of the world, arguing it is easier than becoming the very best there is at magic, or at the very least more interesting. Richardson utilizes a variety of paranoid, Machiavellian tactics to attain his goals, applying them all in tandem to strong-arm the people, governments, and legal systems to cover up and/or allow all the crimes and moral aberrations he commits for his company.

Richardson, who is in his early forties, is horrified at the fact that he will one day die. Beneath his funny, charismatic, eccentric façade, he is a deeply, profoundly-paranoid man. He wants to either: a) Discover a method through magic that will allow him to live forever, or b) Find a wife to have a son with so his son can continue the family business.

Darkheart. Richardson is attuned to the Darkheart, granting him the following traits:

  • Richardson may receive premonitions of danger and, unless incapacitated, cannot be surprised.
