Viggo
“Vee – goh”
The first and only of his kind, no lock in all the lands can keep out Viggo, an experimental assassin android developed by engineers at Magicorp composed entirely of magical liquid metal. He has an intimately-personal grudge against Magicorp’s CEO bringing him into existence on a whim.
Unhappy with the new android’s erratic behavior and quirks, the CEO ordered the project scrapped and shut down in a fit of impatient rage. As the most-advanced magical construct the world has ever seen, the engineer mages who designed him were not aware that they had actually created a sentient machine, so when Viggo was discarded with the project’s shutdown, he fell into a garbage chute that was then transported to an arctic area, freezing him in the process.
While there, a still-functioning, but glitched crystal ball television inexplicably propped-up in front of him broadcasted wacky slapstick cartoons day in and day out, causing Viggo to inherit their mannerisms and properties at the cost of his sanity, mistaking their rubbery, elastic movements for his own and believing he is one of them. Assuming the form of a cartoonish woodpecker, Viggo oscillates between having complicated, pseudo-daddy issues with the CEO to wanting to tear his head off.
Viggo moves fluidly but speaks erratically and frantically. Inside his beak are rows of rotating, pointed teeth. Despite his insanity and abominable nature, he is capable of drafting and executing complex plans and tactics that range in effectiveness from downright brilliant moments of deduction to colossal acts of vanity.
Viggo
INT 20 (+5) WIS 20 (+5) CHA 20 (+5)
Machine Learning. Viggo gains an advantage on all Intelligence ability checks and saving throws.
Lightning Absorption. Whenever Viggo is subjected to Lightning damage, he instead takes no damage and gains a number of hit points equal to the lightning damage dealt.
Nimble Escape. Viggo can take the Disengage or Hide action as a bonus action on each of his turns.
Magic Weapons. All of Viggo’s weapon attacks are counted as magical.
Living Weapon. Viggo’s body is made of a moving, semi-sentient liquid metal with an artificial mind. Because Viggo physically lacks a singular ‘brain,’ or brain-equivalent organ, he is immune to all forms of Psychic and Psionic magic. He can alter his physical appearance to assume disguises, and stretch and contort his body and limbs into any shape physically possible. By stretching, he can become up to one size larger and fit through any gap at least one millimeter wide.
Healing Factor. If Viggo begins his turn with at least one hit point, he regains 2d10 hit points. If he suffers damage that reduces him to 0 hit points, he becomes incapacitated and will become active again after 1d10 days, awakening with 2d20 hit points. If Viggo is reduced to 0 hit points by any attack that deals Cold damage, he becomes frozen solid and will remain inactive for as long as he remains frozen. Viggo only dies if every molecule in his body is destroyed, for example by incineration in lava or by a Disintegrate spell.
Multiattack. Viggo makes four melee attacks, either with his arms or beak, then one Constrict attack.
Arms. Melee Weapon Attack: +15 to hit, reach 30 ft., one target. Hit: 4d10+5 bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage.
Beak. Melee Weapon Attack: +15 to hit, reach 30 ft., one target. On a hit, roll a d20. The number rolled on the die is the number of times Viggo strikes his target with his beak in rapid succession, with each hit dealing 3 piercing damage. If Viggo strikes the target 15 times or more with this move, it deals an additional 20 piercing damage.
Constrict. Melee Weapon Attack: +15 to hit, reach 15 ft., one creature. Hit: 4d12+5 bludgeoning damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 20). Until this grapple ends, the creature is restrained, and Viggo can’t constrict another target.Crawl. Viggo can use a bonus action to shapeshift into a moving puddle of liquid metal, halving his movement speed. In this form, however, his bonus to Stealth checks doubles, and he automatically ignores difficult terrain. Additionally, only magical effects can cause him to be restrained, and he cannot be grappled. If Viggo changes into his puddle form while being grappled in his regular form, he can spend 5 feet of movement to escape.
Shield. Viggo uses his reaction to morph some of the mass of his body into a shield to parry melee attacks, which increases his armor class by 5 until the end of the round. Beak. If Viggo takes any damage during the round, he can use his reaction to make a single beak attack against any creature within range.
Viggo can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. Viggo regains spent legendary actions at the start of his turn.
Beak. Viggo makes a Beak attack.
Detect. Viggo makes a Wisdom (Perception) check.
Change Form. Viggo switches to or from his liquid metal form and moves up to his walking speed.
