His rule has been put to the test because of the increasing pressure from Valysir and [[Magicorp]] threatening to invade them, and the ongoing cold war between the two countries is a major source of geopolitical conflict and tension. Magicorp wants to take the canal for itself at all costs. The mountain range in Vanda bordering the Dragon's Thumb Forest is the home of an extremely-significant [[Mana#Mana Emanation|''mana'' conduit]], which Magicorp wishes to seize and establish a [[Mana Drilling Sites|drilling site]] at.  

'''Culture.''' Vandians are generally extremely proud of their country and heritage, and for the most part, they have a well-liked king. He can be viewed as rash and sometimes strict, but he is decidedly not an evil man. He is especially popular due to being one of the few world leaders who sees through Magicorp’s lies.
